For over three decades, the New Cancan<\/strong> was a vibrant hub of Marseille\u2019s queer nightlife. Located on Rue S\u00e9nac-de-Meilhan, just steps away from La Canebi\u00e8re, this club witnessed countless individuals seeking freedom, identities being shaped, budding romances, and lonely souls finding solace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the New Cancan no longer opens its doors.
Its name no longer lights up a dance floor.
It exists only in memory now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, like many vanished queer spaces, it lives on in different ways: through stories, memories, and the paths it helped shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launched in the early 1990s, the New Cancan quickly became the major queer club in Marseille<\/strong>. At a time when LGBTQIA+ spaces were rare, precarious, and sometimes hidden, it offered something essential: a visible, identifiable, proud territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
