Drag Race France : Kitty Space Comes Out
An Emotional Announcement on Instagram
Kitty Space, a famous contestant from season 2 of Drag Race France, shared an emotional update on Instagram on July 2, shortly after the end of Pride Month. She announced her transition and her new name, Kiara, in a heartfelt post. “I am so happy to come out as trans,” she stated. “It was hard, hard to hide, but today I want to live freely, to be happy being myself. What I am deep down: a woman.”
A Powerful and Inspiring Message
In the photo accompanying her announcement, Kitty Space appears radiant in front of a sky painted with the colors of the trans flag. At 28 years old, she expressed the importance of this public revelation: “Living hidden and unhappy? Or living free and fulfilled? The question lingered for a long time. Protecting my loved ones who might take it badly or protecting myself? I chose to protect myself. Also to protect those who hide and don’t dare. Let’s live free. It’s our body, our gender, our choices.”
A Long Journey to Acceptance
Since the age of 7 or 8, Kiara had wanted to transition. She received support from her fashion school, which respected her choice of pronouns, and she gradually adopted a feminine gender expression before declaring herself non-binary. In the book “Reines, l’art du drag à la française” by Nicky Doll, Kiara explains: “I have a huge part of femininity that I need to express.”

Support from the Drag Community
Kitty Space warmly thanked her loved ones and Moon, another Drag Race France contestant, for their unwavering support. “It is thanks to you and your strength that I took the step,” she wrote. Moon is the second openly trans contestant on the show after La Briochée from season 1. In the world of Drag Race, many queens have revealed their trans identities after their participation, such as Farrah Moan, Bosco, Adore Delano, and Aja.
A Wave of Sisterhood
The comments under Kitty Space’s post are filled with support and love from her sisters on the show – Piche, Mami Watta, Cookie Kunty, Kam Hugh, Ruby on the Nail – as well as from Nicky Doll, who wrote: “Love you little sis Kiki.”
