Oklahomans to Libs of TikTok’s Chaya Raichik : ‘Stay out of our state’

Libs of TikTok’s Chaya Raichik may be tight with some conservative Oklahoma politicians, but there are plenty of Oklahomans who don’t want her in their state.

A group of local organizations and individuals has issued a stern warning to Chaya Raichik, the individual behind Libs of TikTok, through a public letter, discouraging her from visiting Oklahoma. This comes as she plans a possible trip to the state.

Chaya Raichik, originally a 28-year-old real estate agent from Brooklyn who was raised in Los Angeles, is known for founding Libs of TikTok. This social media outlet is infamous for its extreme right-wing content and its campaign against LGBTQ+ rights, often singling out educators for their supportive stance on LGBTQ+ matters.

The identity of the person behind the Libs of TikTok account was unveiled in 2022 by Taylor Lorenz, a journalist from The Washington Post. Since the revelation, Raichik has emerged as a prominent figure amongst far-right and anti-LGBTQ+ factions nationwide.

Though Raichik resides outside of Oklahoma, she was named a member of the state’s Library Media Advisory Committee by the education superintendent, Ryan Walters, in January. She hinted at a potential visit to Oklahoma, which would mark her second trip there, in a recent social media update on Twitter/X towards the end of the previous month.

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), along with other charitable entities like Freedom Oklahoma, Free Mom Hugs Oklahoma, and supporters of HRC in Oklahoma, which reportedly number over 50,000, crafted a public letter on Wednesday (6 March) voicing their opposition. The letter forcefully states: “Our state and our youth have already been harmed by your online presence, and we are deeply alarmed by your recent suggestion that you will visit our state in person.”
