Appeal for Witnesses After Pride Flags Vandalized in London
Repeated Vandalism at Forest Gate
The Metropolitan Police are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect involved in the vandalism of three pride flags in northeast London, an incident that has occurred for the third time. The latest act of vandalism took place on July 19 outside Forest Gate station and is being treated as a homophobic and transphobic hate crime, according to authorities.
Repeated Incidents
This latest incident follows two previous ones that occurred on June 23 and 26, also near the same station. Detective Inspector James Rush strongly condemned these acts, stating that the police “will not tolerate these disgusting and inexcusable hate crimes at Forest Gate.” He added, “There is no place for hate.”
It follows previous incidents of damage on 23 and 26 June outside the same station.
Police Actions
A police spokesperson indicated that surveillance footage has been reviewed, door-to-door inquiries conducted, and forensic investigations undertaken, although no arrests have yet been made. The incidents in June and July are being treated as linked, with the police believing that the same individual is responsible for these acts of vandalism.
