Trump Pledges to Revoke Transgender Student Protections “On Day One”

Former President Donald Trump announced last Friday that he would rescind protections for transgender students implemented by the Biden administration “on the first day” if he were re-elected in November. The Department of Education introduced a significant update to Title IX, the federal civil rights law that prohibits sex discrimination in federally funded educational programs and schools, this past April. The recent regulations, set to take effect on August 1st, extend protections to include discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity for the first time.

During an appearance on “Kayal and Company,” a conservative radio show based in Philadelphia, Trump expressed his intentions to overturn these changes immediately upon potentially taking office. “We’re gonna end it on day one,” Trump stated, emphasizing that the amendments were instituted through presidential order.  “Don’t forget, that was done as an order from the president. That came down as an executive order. And we’re gonna change it — on day one it’s gonna be changed.”
