Anti-LGBTQ+ group fires activist after he admits appearing in gay adult video
nvolvement in Adult Videos Sparks Controversy
Corey DeAngelis, a prominent figure in the school choice movement, has been dismissed from his senior fellowship at the American Federation for Children (AFC), following revelations that he appeared in gay adult videos. In an interview, DeAngelis admitted to having performed under the alias “Seth Rose” on the website GayHoopla, a platform for gay adult content. He stated he believed at the time that he was participating in “fitness” videos.
AFC’s Statement on DeAngelis’ Departure
An AFC spokesperson confirmed DeAngelis’ departure, stating, “Corey is no longer at AFC. We wish him well in his next endeavors, and we remain focused on expanding educational opportunities for families, especially those with lower incomes.” DeAngelis had been a key advocate for the organization’s school choice initiatives and authored The Parent Revolution: Rescuing Your Kids from the Radicals Ruining Our Schools, a book endorsed by former President Donald Trump.
Background on DeAngelis’ Adult Film Appearances
The videos in question, which date back to around 2014, featured DeAngelis in various explicit scenes. One of the videos was titled “Jerk-Off Race,” while another was a compilation named “Super Star Compilation! How Many Strokes Til You Cum?!” GayHoopla described DeAngelis, or “Seth Rose,” as a “hot otter,” a term used within the gay community to describe a specific body type.
DeAngelis’ Response to the Scandal
DeAngelis had previously referred to these videos as mistakes from his past, stating that he was misled and influenced into making poor decisions. In a more recent interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, he elaborated on the situation, admitting to his involvement but expressing regret. “There are images and videos circulating of me from my college days about a decade ago that I’m not proud of. They’re embarrassing,” he said, attributing the resurfacing of these videos to a political attack from his opponents.
He also claimed that he was deceived by the producers into believing he was participating in fitness-related content, a far cry from the adult material that was released. DeAngelis used this experience to push back against what he perceives as the exposure of children to inappropriate content in schools, a key concern of his advocacy.

DeAngelis’ Views on Public Schools and LGBTQ+ Issues
A vocal critic of the public school system, DeAngelis has argued for directing taxpayer money toward private, for-profit schools. He has long been aligned with Christian conservative efforts, advocating for schools that can reject students without adhering to federal non-discrimination policies. These schools are often free from government oversight, allowing them to bypass regulations regarding LGBTQ+ and diversity issues.
DeAngelis has also contributed to the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, a political blueprint for Donald Trump’s potential re-election. The plan includes proposals to eliminate the Department of Education and remove references to sexual orientation, gender identity, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) from federal policies. Critics argue that such measures would undermine efforts to address the needs of marginalized communities.
Advocacy Against LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Schools
Throughout his career, DeAngelis has criticized public schools for promoting LGBTQ+ inclusion. He told Fox News that public schools focus “more on the LGBTs than the ABCs,” echoing a right-wing argument that addressing LGBTQ+ issues negatively impacts educational quality. He has also claimed that the “radical left’s 2024 weekly lesson plan” for students includes mandates like “pronoun recognition,” “drag queen story hour,” and allowing “boys to participate in girls’ sports,” fueling his opposition to progressive education policies.
DeAngelis’ dismissal from the AFC, combined with his controversial past, has sparked further debate over the intersection of personal conduct, political advocacy, and educational policy.
“School choice defeats the woke mind virus,” he wrote. However, despite his zeal, AFC scrubbed his biography page and past articles entirely from its website shortly after news of his adult video appearance made headlines.
DeAngelis has maintained his position as an adjunct scholar at the Cato Institute and a senior fellow at the libertarian Reason Foundation, where he is a senior fellow, The Advocate reported. He has vowed to continue his anti-LGBTQ+ activism.
