Australia : Remains of TV Presenter and Partner Found Following Alleged Murderer’s Lead

In an unsettling development from Australia, the remains of a television presenter and his boyfriend, an airline steward, were discovered in a rural area on the outskirts of Sydney on Tuesday. The breakthrough came after a police officer, charged with their murder, provided critical information.

“We are confident that we have found Luke and Jesse,” stated Karen Webb, the New South Wales Police Commissioner, noting the mixed feelings of relief and sorrow among the families of the two victims.

The grim find concludes a week of intense search efforts to locate Jesse Baird, a 26-year-old entertainment journalist, and Luke Davies, a 29-year-old Qantas flight attendant.

A 28-year-old policeman, reportedly in a relationship with Mr. Baird, has been charged with two counts of murder.

“These details were revealed with the assistance of the suspect,” Webb announced.

Authorities believe the pair were shot in a Sydney central apartment before their bodies were concealed in surfboard bags and moved to a rural property approximately two hours from the city.

Ballistic tests confirmed that a bullet found at the apartment matched a police-issued firearm, which was later located in a police station’s safe.

The killings are considered to be related to a “domestic” dispute rather than a “hate crime,” according to police statements.

The accused, formerly a celebrity blogger, was known for his photos with various celebrities including Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and Ben Stiller before joining the police force.

He was previously investigated in 2020 for improper use of a Taser against an Aboriginal man, following the online circulation of the incident’s video.

Back in 2014, he publicly disclosed his sexuality by throwing a letter on stage during a Lady Gaga concert, which the singer then read to the audience, including his sister.
