Two Positions Available to Support Festival Organization
The Alliance Arc-en-ciel de Québec is seeking two individuals for special events organizer roles in preparation for Québec Pride 2026. This event will take place from September 4 to 6.
These seasonal jobs will last from July 6 to September 6, 2026, spanning two months. Selected candidates will actively participate in implementing one of the major 2SLGBTQ+ gatherings in the Capitale-Nationale region.
An Involvement in All Planning Stages
The chosen candidates will collaborate on the entire organizational process, from preparing activities to executing them during the festival.
Duties include logistical coordination, partnership development and maintenance, communication with participating organizations, volunteer team support, and on-site presence during events.
This initiative aligns with a broader trend, as seen at the key Pride events of 2026 in northeastern France, where organizing teams play a vital role in the event’s success.
The organization seeks self-reliant individuals with good organizational skills and an appreciation for collaborative work. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with various cultural and community partners are also valued.
An Experience in Service of Inclusion
Beyond gaining experience in event management, these roles offer a direct contribution to promoting diversity and inclusion for 2SLGBTQ+ communities in the Québec region.
Interested candidates have until June 22, 2026, to submit their applications. Résumés and cover letters should be sent to: dg.org@arcencielquebec.ca.
Memory, Pride, and Inclusion: A Response to Rising Hate Speech
A Project Focused on History to Educate the Public
Amid increasing hateful discourse targeting sexual and gender diversity communities, the Alliance Arc-en-ciel de Québec is launching a significant initiative centered on education, collective memory transmission, and strengthening inclusion in cultural and festive settings.
Financially supported by the Bureau de lutte contre l’homophobie et la transphobie (BLCHT), the project, titled Memory and Pride, aims to leverage LGBTQ+ history as a tool for awareness, resistance against prejudice, misinformation, and exclusion.
Call for Citizen Participation
To document the history of LGBTQ+ communities in the Québec region, the Alliance Arc-en-ciel invites the public to contribute to the project by sharing testimonials, photographs, personal archives, or any other material that helps trace the struggles and significant locations of the movement.
This participatory approach seeks to preserve a collectively often overlooked memory while highlighting the journeys and experiences of past generations.
Intergenerational Meetings to Pass On History
The project also includes organizing panels and meetings with activists from various generations. These exchanges aim to foster dialogue between those who contributed to the movement’s achievements and those continuing the fight for equality today.
This approach aims to strengthen knowledge transmission, recognize past contributions, and nurture current civic engagement.
Public Dissemination Tools
The collected documents and testimonials will aid in producing various awareness tools, such as exhibitions, informational videos, and publications. These efforts intend to raise awareness about the realities of sexual and gender diversity communities to the wider public.
Through this memory work, the Alliance Arc-en-ciel aspires to show that understanding history remains a powerful tool to combat prejudice and exclusion.
Training Cultural Sectors to Support Inclusive Events
A Training Program for Organizations
Alongside this collective memory project, the Alliance Arc-en-ciel de Québec continues its efforts to make cultural, recreational, and festive events more welcoming for individuals from sexual and gender diversity backgrounds.
Supported financially by Women and Gender Equality Canada, the organization offers a series of free trainings aimed at organizations seeking to improve their inclusion practices. This initiative fully aligns with themes commonly explored in the LGBT Events and Inclusive Manifestations category.
Responsible Module for Managers and Coordinators
This first training targets those involved in management, planning, coordination, direction, or human resources.
Participants will cover basic concepts related to sexual and gender diversity, the realities experienced by concerned communities, legal obligations of organizations, and adopting policies and practices promoting inclusion.
Team Module for Frontline Staff
The second module focuses on employees and volunteers interacting directly with the public, such as those in reception, ticketing, security, animation, or bar services.
This training emphasizes adopting inclusive behaviors and best practices in public interaction. Participants will also learn to respond appropriately to different on-field situations.
A Sustainable Transformation of Event Practices
By offering these trainings, the Alliance Arc-en-ciel de Québec aims to contribute to evolving practices in cultural and event sectors to create safer, more accessible, and respectful environments for diversity.
Interested organizations can register their team members by completing the online registration form. Additionally, they can contact the organization at formation@arcencielquebec.ca.
