First Pride Run at SM Mall of Asia !
A Historic Celebration of Unity and Diversity
The SM by the Bay at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Complex transformed into a vibrant hub of inclusivity and celebration on Saturday, June 22, 2024. SM Supermalls, in partnership with RunRio, hosted its first-ever Pride Run, attracting thousands of participants from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) community and their allies. This event marked a significant milestone in fostering unity and excitement among diverse groups.
An Electrifying Atmosphere
The atmosphere was electric as over 5,000 runners assembled for 10km, 5km, and 3km races. Participants, adorned in Pride Run singlets, race bibs, and timing chips, were ready to make history. The event featured notable figures such as RunRio President Rio de la Cruz, SM Supermalls’ Vice President for Corporate Marketing Grace Magno, and representatives from various supporting organizations.

A Significant Contribution
BingoPlus Foundation Executive Director Angela Wieneke presented a substantial donation of P500,000 to LoveYourselfPH Head of Administration and Business Development Calvin June Sintoy. This generous contribution underscored the event’s commitment to supporting LGBTQIA+ initiatives and promoting inclusivity.
Outstanding Performances
Among the highlights, Juan Karlo Igos secured first place in the 10km race with a time of 38 minutes and 11 seconds. Cavin Vedal dominated the 5km race, finishing in 16 minutes and 47 seconds, while Mark Angelo Biagtan emerged as the fastest in the 3km division, completing the run in 11 minutes and 6 seconds. The participants’ dazzling outfits turned the event into a vibrant showcase of creativity and self-expression.
Star-Studded Event
The event featured appearances from prominent personalities, including Pantay Inc. Chairperson Thysz Estrada, actor Gardo Versoza, and content creator Minnie Nato. Their presence added a touch of glamour and star power to the celebration.
Spectacular Entertainment
The post-race festivities included electrifying performances by artists such as Dey XD, Andy Crocker, Moonlight, and Taylor Swift impersonator Taylor Sweft. These performances kept the crowd energized, dancing, and singing along.
Creative Costume Contest
The Costume Contest was a highlight of the event, with participants showcasing their creativity in a variety of imaginative outfits. From superhero costumes to playful ensembles, the contest added an extra layer of fun and excitement to the Pride Run.
A Symbol of Inclusivity
The Pride Run was more than just a race; it was a powerful statement of support and inclusivity for the LGBTQIA+ community. With the support of partners like ArenaPlus, BingoPlus Foundation, LoveYourselfPH, Pantay Inc., and the Metro Manila Pride Organization, the event celebrated diversity and championed a more inclusive society.
Overall, the inaugural Pride Run 2024 at SM by the BAY, SM Mall of Asia Complex, successfully united people from all backgrounds in a joyous celebration of love, diversity, and community spirit.
