Hungary PM LGBTQ+ ‘propaganda’

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has firmly declared that no amount of money in the world will persuade him to accept LGBTQ+ “propaganda”. This comes after the EU suspended funding to Hungary in 2022. In 2021, Hungary passed a law banning any discussion of LGBTQ+ people in schools and the media, a move sadly reminiscent of Russia’s “anti-propaganda” law. Since then, the EU has taken legal action against Hungary over this law and frozen funds to the country in 2022, motivated by concerns over LGBTQ+ rights, the asylum system, academic freedom and more. Hungary must meet 17 conditions before funds are allocated.
