IDF progressive militaries LGBT

In the heart of the gay rights movement, there’s an understanding of how the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have improved in treating LGBT service members fairly. However, there are still challenges. Some soldiers encounter LGBT-phobic attitudes. A recent forum called “LGBT in Battle” highlighted these issues. It focused on the progress and ongoing challenges for LGBT soldiers and their families. “The IDF has made significant progress in accepting LGBT individuals. This shows a strong effort to support LGBT soldiers in both their personal and professional lives,” says Imry Zagury, a key LGBT advocate and head of government relations at Aguda-The Association for LGBTQ Equality in Israel. Zagury shared these thoughts at the “LGBT in Battle” conference last Wednesday. The event was organized by Herzliya Municipality and the LGBT Association.
