Jeremy Corbyn calls for an end of anti-trans discrimination

Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn recently expressed his support for transgender individuals during a session at the Council of Europe. Speaking as the MP for Islington North, Corbyn emphasized the need to end the “horrors of transgender discrimination.” His remarks were made at a parliamentary assembly held on Thursday, 18 April, which was organized to bolster the Council of Europe’s commitment to safeguarding LGBTQ+ rights among EU member states.

During this assembly, members discussed a resolution inspired by a report from Belgian politician Christophe Lacroix. The resolution sharply criticizes ongoing violations against LGBTQ+ individuals’ freedom of expression and labels anti-queer policies as breaches of the European Court of Human Rights’ rulings.
