Vatican Same-Sex Unions Blessing in Latin America
In an unprecedented move, the Vatican has sparked a wave of anticipation and controversy across Latin America’s LGBT+ Catholic communities. This stems from their recent declaration hinting at the potential blessing of same-sex unions. This is particularly groundbreaking in countries where such unions remain unrecognized by law. The announcement has caused a stir among religious groups advocating for LGBT+ members. In response, Catholic organizations devoted to this cause have been burgeoning in nations like Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, and Paraguay over the past decades. While countries such as Brazil and Argentina have embraced same-sex marriage over ten years ago, a significant portion of Latin American nations lags behind in LGBT civil rights, especially noticeable in Central America and South American countries like Peru and Paraguay.
