Thousands Gather in Hull to Celebrate Pride
Parade Kicks Off Hull Pride Event
On Saturday, immense crowds filled Hull to celebrate the city’s Pride event. Thousands of attendees, many adorned in rainbow colors, arrived for the parade, which began at 09:30 BST.
Entertainment Highlights
The afternoon festivities at Zebedee’s Yard featured performances from pop artists Louise and Max George, along with DJ Stephanie Hirst, who kept the crowd entertained. Special guest Miss Naomi Carter from RuPaul’s Drag Race also made a notable appearance.
Community Voices
Felix, a local resident who managed to secure a front-row spot at the parade, expressed his excitement: “It’s tremendous. All this support from the citizens of Hull.”
Harry Bradford, representing Hull Roundheads Rugby, Hull’s first inclusive LGBTQ+ friendly rugby team, commented: “Hull Pride is phenomenal. It’s getting bigger each year, the crowds supporting the event are getting larger.”

Promoting Acceptance and Understanding
Andy Train, chairperson of Pride in Hull, emphasized the event’s broader mission: “Our goal is to raise awareness and understanding of gender diversity. Through these performances and educational initiatives, we hope to promote acceptance and respect for all individuals, regardless of their gender identity or expression.”
Additional Activities
The celebration also included a silent disco at Princes Quay, a community market stretching across King Edward and Savile streets and the Hull Freedom Quarter, and a “Trans Square” in Queen Victoria Square.
Mr. Train highlighted the significance of the event: “This isn’t just a celebration – it’s a powerful statement of visibility, inclusivity, and the vibrant diversity that makes our community shine.”
