A Gathering for Trans Visibility and Rights

The Los Angeles LGBT Center, in collaboration with the TransLatin@ Coalition, Equality California, and Advocates for Trans Equality, is organizing “Trans Liberation Now!”—an event dedicated to advocating for trans rights and amplifying transgender voices. Scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 10 AM to 1 PM, the gathering will take place at the Anita May Rosenstein Campus in Hollywood.

A Local Movement with a National Impact

This initiative goes beyond Los Angeles. Organizers are calling on organizations across the country to hold simultaneous demonstrations in support of transgender, non-binary, intersex, and gender-nonconforming (TGNBI+) communities. The goal is to amplify the movement and strengthen the fight against legislative attacks targeting these communities.

A Response to the Growing Wave of Anti-Trans Legislation

With over 700 bills currently under review in state legislatures across the United States—and the number expected to rise—organizers are condemning what they see as a politically motivated attack fueled by the rhetoric of the Trump administration. The event will feature speeches, advocacy tools, and a resource fair, providing participants with information and ways to take local action.

A Call for Resistance and Solidarity

Joe Hollendoner, CEO of the Los Angeles LGBT Center, emphasizes the urgent need for mobilization:

“The Los Angeles LGBT Center is proud to stand with our transgender community and demand justice, protection, and full equality. At a time when political scapegoating and legislative attacks on transgender people reach the highest levels of government, we refuse to stay silent. ‘Trans Liberation Now!’ is a call to arms—a declaration that we will fight for the rights, dignity, and very existence of transgender, bisexual, and intersex people (TGNBI+).”

Four Key Objectives of the Gathering

The event is centered around four major priorities:

• Amplifying the voices and visibility of transgender people
• Mobilizing communities to defend their rights
• Strengthening solidarity for trans liberation
• Fighting anti-trans laws and promoting protective legislation

A Resource Fair for Concrete Support

In addition to speeches and advocacy efforts, the gathering will host a TGNBI+ resource fair. This will connect attendees with local organizations providing essential services such as healthcare, legal aid, and social support tailored to the specific needs of transgender individuals.
