Morocco : A School Textbook Featuring “LGBT” Colors Sparks Controversy
A Request Made by a PJD Member
Mustapha Ibrahimi, a deputy of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), raised a concern with the Minister of National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports regarding a preschool textbook featuring colors associated with the LGBT flag. This textbook, titled “Au plaisir des premiers apprentissages” (The Joy of Early Learning), is currently available on the market. Ibrahimi described the ministry’s approval of its sale as a “dangerous precedent” in a written question addressed to Chakib Benmoussa.

Accusations of Deviation from Moroccan Values
The deputy expressed his outrage, stating that this act goes against Moroccan values rooted in Islam. He views it as a “deliberate attempt to disrupt the Moroccan social fabric,” particularly by encouraging “decadence” and normalizing “moral corruption,” targeting children as young as four years old. According to Ibrahimi, the distribution of this textbook is a direct attack on the country’s moral values and aims to negatively influence future generations.
Call for Sanctions and an Investigation
The deputy demanded an investigation into what he termed a “scandal,” calling for exemplary sanctions against those responsible for what he deemed an “abhorrent” situation. Additionally, Ibrahimi sought clarification on the actions the ministry intends to implement to prevent future violations of Morocco’s constitutional principles, where Islam plays a central role in defining national identity.
